The power of pictures
challenge
Doug and Nan Smith pledged a lead gift to The Foundation for Shawnee Mission Medical Center, igniting a campaign to raise $24.5 million to build the B.E. Smith Family Center, a new home for the Lee Ann Britain Infant Development Center and the Shawnee Mission Health Early Learning Center. The new building replaced the outdated facilities where the two centers had been operating and enhanced their therapeutic treatment and educational offerings. Design Ranch partnered with Advent Health to create the center’s brand, marketing, and donor walls, creating an image that resonates with families as well as the primary donors involved in the center’s mission.
approach
The B.E. Smith Family Center brand needed to capture its mission of providing family-focused developmental services to children with special needs. The brand complements the modern learning environment for children of all ability levels; the circular logo grows from its core. It reinforces how the Center fosters collaboration and connection between children, families, and staff and promotes understanding and inclusion of all children. Soft colors and images enhanced the therapeutic environment and were used across marketing materials and within the space.
