Elevating a public media campaign
challenge
Kansas City PBS turned to Design Ranch to develop a campaign identity and creative strategy for an ambitious $16.5 million community engagement and facilities renovation initiative. The objective was to promote public awareness and bolster support for the project’s fundraising, programming, and redevelopment goals. By leveraging Kansas City PBS’s 60-year legacy as the backbone of regional public media, the campaign needed to reaffirm the organization’s vital role in providing quality content, fostering constructive dialogue, and serving as a hub for civic affairs. Through messaging and community activation, the aim was to strengthen public media and galvanize public participation in this noteworthy endeavor.
approach
Design Ranch harnessed the power of the acronym KCPT, redefining the last two letters into “Picture This.” The strategy aimed to inspire potential contributors by asking them to imagine the positive changes their support could bring to the community. Emphasizing the 60-year legacy of Kansas City PBS, the campaign highlighted the station’s commitment to quality content and civic engagement. Our team fashioned a distinctive brand across diverse collateral materials designed to resonate with the community and foster a sense of pride and confidence in potential donors. This holistic approach supported fundraising efforts and reinforced the station’s critical role in the community, driving public awareness and participation in the redevelopment initiative.
