Forging a lively identity for a brewery

The Lawrence Beer Company engaged Design Ranch to create a compelling brand identity to connect with the Lawrence community, including nearby University of Kansas college students and young professionals living downtown. They wanted to establish an upbeat and relevant persona to match their 100-year-old building in the trendy Warehouse Arts District. Ultimately, the brewery and restaurant sought to strike the right balance – fuse its atmosphere and branding with a fun-loving spirit that would attract their target 21- to 35-year-old demographic while also honoring the rich history of the building and neighborhood.

Guided by the brewery’s vision, Design Ranch sought to craft an identifiable and appealing logo to anchor the overall branding and visual identity. Knowing Lawrence Beer Company’s desired fun and vibrant aesthetic, the team conceptualized “Larry the dog” — an affable canine character with a nose for beer. This whimsical logo sets the tone for the brand personality — conveying neighborly charm with playful wit. Complementing a library of logos, we curated on-theme swag and a market of “I’m with Larry” merchandise and goods.
